Driving innovation forward
"2008 has been a very strong year for T-Mobile: by the end of the year, our data traffic had tripled and our web'n’walk subscriber base grew 53 per cent to 5.9 million," comments Hamid Akhavan, CEO, T-Mobile International. "2009 is shaping up to be a similar success, with a very strong innovation pipeline from our product and network teams and our partners. Ongoing trials of next-generation mobile network technology and the launch of the best devices with the most innovative services such as the new web'n'walk widget platform will continue to keep T-Mobile as the premier provider for the mobile Internet," Akhavan adds.
By incorporating widgets on users’ home screens from many of the world’s top Web brands, for instance, the latest version of the T-Mobile web’n’walk service will soon provide customers with even easier mobile access to their favorite Web services like Facebook on a wider range of mobile devices. Building on the success of its iPhone 3G and T-Mobile G1 launches in a number of markets, T-Mobile is also set to offer customers the latest touchscreen capabilities with the rollout of numerous new devices including its T-Mobile MDA Compact V and T-Mobile MDA Vario V. Both new devices are slated to hit the market by June 2009. The company will also continue to drive its mini-notebook success story with the exclusive addition of the stylish and powerful HP Compaq Mini 700 to its mobile Internet notebook portfolio.
Visitors at the Mobile World Congress can also experience a demonstration of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology at the T-Mobile marquee. Underscoring the company’s continued commitment to investing in Next Generation Mobile Network research and development, the technology connects Germany and Barcelona and demonstrates high-definition video calling, online gaming and ultra high-speed downloads.
